BlackBerry to introduce ads in apps

The BlackBerry Advertising Service will provide developers with access to a large pool of ad units from mobile ad networks including Jumptap, Lat49, Milennial Media, Navteq and Quattro Wireless.

The service will give developers access to data on ad impressions, clicks, conversions and earnings, as well as integration into the Omniture Online Marketing Suite for more advanced analytics.

Rim is also promising integration between ads and applications that will let people initiate calls from an ad, add a calendar entry or contract entry from an ad and directly link to an application in BlackBerry App World from an ad.

Alongside the Advertising Service, developers will also be offered access to payment services allowing them to charge for apps and content.

RIM's move to make its apps ad-friendly will further expand the mobile advertising market, which was boosted by .
