Big Brother chalk logo causes controversy in Uffington

LONDON - Weeks before a single housemate has been revealed, the fourth series of 'Big Brother' is already causing controversy over a 300-foot chalk logo painted into an Oxfordshire hillside.

The 'Big Brother' eye logo was painted to be filmed for idents for the Channel 4 series and has since been removed. However, in the short space of time that it was there, it caused a stir among locals and archaeologists, who wanted to know how the National Trust came to give permission for the logo to be chalked on the site.

According to BBC News, the National Trust was paid £2,000 for the stunt. The logo appeared next to the Bronze Age horse at Uffington, leading to criticism that a national monument was being used to "promote a tacky gameshow".

But Channel 4 said that locals were fine about the promotion. "At first they thought we were May Day protesters. But once they were over the initial shock, they weren't really too upset."

'Big Brother' returns for a fourth series at the end of May. O2 has signed up for another stint of its successful sponsorship of the reality gameshow.
