BBC Earth and AKQA create Attenborough's 'Story of Life' app

BBC Earth and AKQA have produced David Attenborough's "gift to the world" on his 90th birthday - an app collating the best of his natural history broadcasts.

The app, called "The Story of Life", contains 1,000 clips from series such as Life on Earth and The Life of Mammals.

It will also feature moments from Planet Earth 2, which is airing on BBC One currently.

Users can browse animals by habitat, species and behaviour. There are also "hidden" films inside the app to encourage viewers to explore. There are pre-curated playlists for users to explore, and they can also create their own collections of wildlife moments.

"This is natural history for the digital age, allowing people to explore the story of life on earth and share their favourite natural history moments with the world," said Attenborough.

The app will be availiable from Thursday 17 November for free on iOS and Android devices globally. AKQA's James Chorley was creative director for the app, while Lionel Agbadou was art director.
