Lyons joined the publisher from moblie internet company Truphone, but he is also a former marketing director for lastminute.com and brand manager at The Guardian.

He will report into Bauer chief marketing officer Andria Vidler, with whom he worked at Capital. Lyons is replacing Chris Lawson, who has moved to Absolute Radio, part of the group that owns Virgin Radio, to take up the new role of brand director.

Lyons will oversee digital marketing for more than 80 brands including women's magazine Grazia, radio stations Magic 105.4 and Kiss, music titles including Q and Kerrang! and motorcycle magazine MCN.
