LONDON - Asda has pulled a TV ad for its cheap £70 adult's mountain bike, following criticism that the bikes featured in the ads were not assembled correctly.

Asda said it would develop a new ad with Fallon to promote the self-assembly bikes.

The Association of Cycle Traders slammed the chain for featuring bikes with their forks put on the wrong way, which would mean the bike would not steer properly.

The £70 Verona bike is still being sold in stores and online.

The retailer trumpeted the arrival of ‘Britain's cheapest bike', sold at no profit to the company, as part of a ‘pedal power' initiative.

The bikes were launched to coincide with Bike Week in June.
