Industry heavyweight Evans was previously managing director of Fresh RM and a director of Reed Exhibitions. He will take up his post at Centaur in early September.
"[Evans] has 25 years of experience in the exhibitions industry, both in the UK and international markets and has led businesses operating with a focus on both business to business and business to consumer platforms," said Centaur chief executive Geoff Wilmot.
"I am confident he will add significant value to Centaur as we grow our exhibitions business."
At Centaur Evans will command events such as the Homebuilding and Renovating Show, Business Travel Show and Marketing Week Live.
