The company has created a new section on the Planet 3 portal dedicated to Comic Relief, which means that 3 customers can donate money to the charity fundraiser from the Red Nose Day page on their mobiles.
Rob Wells, head of mobile broadband at 3 UK, said: "By giving customers a simple way to donate to Comic Relief, 3 is doing its bit in the drive to raise as much money as possible on Red Nose Day. 3 has over 3.5m customers and hopefully their generosity will help play a part in making this Red Nose Day the biggest yet."
To make a donation customers click through to a link from the Planet 3 portal, they are then asked to confirm their donation before it is deducted from their account. The full amount will go to Comic Relief.
MX Telecom has been working in partnership with 3 to make the donation process simple and effective, and deliver the entire donation amount to Comic Relief for free. The donations will be taken out of available credit for pre-pay customers, or added to their bill for contract customers.
In addition, the MX Telecom donation system allows Comic Relief to claim Gift Aid on donations, thereby adding an extra 28% of the donated amount to the total received by Comic Relief.
