ZenithOptimedia, which only recently finalised its management structure under new CEO Antony Young in March following the merger of Zenith and Optimedia, also picked up the award for campaign of the year for its work with Woolworths.
ZenithOptimedia commercial director Greg Grimmer said: "We are naturally pleased to have our client's work recognised by the PPA, special mention needs to go to Nik Vyas for Woolworths and Nilufar Fowler who penned the Agency of the Year entry. This was the first time we have used our ROI proposition to help us write award entries and, clearly, the accountability we demonstrated caught the eye of the judges."
Aegis-owned Carat Business, a division of Carat, picked up the business-to-business media planning award for its work with logistics firm Regus. The work for Regus was praised for "the comprehensive research conducted in the pre-planning stage of the winning campaign. The entry showed clear evidence of the thinking behind the titles used".
Alex Altman, managing director of Carat Business, said: "It is a testament to the great work Carat Business is doing for its clients that we were judged winners of this award. It is a reflection not only of the work of Carat Business but of the success of Carat's integrated approach as a whole."
The PPA's B2B Advertising Excellence awards launched five years ago to promote and recognise creative and effective advertising in business-to-business media. They are open to any advertiser or agency advertising in a business-to-business magazine (and/or additional media where appropriate) in the past year.
The awards were introduced by Georgina Crace, managing director of IPC Advertising and chair of PPA's board committee for consumer ad marketing.
The ceremony, sponsored by magazine circulation audit service ABC and Brand Republic sister magazine Marketing, took place at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Wednesday.
