Greatrex, who was joint managing director with Turzynski, announced two weeks ago that he was leaving after he was overlooked for the role of chief executive in favour of Antony Young, who joined from ZenithOptimedia Asia. Greatrex was a former Zenith director.
As sole managing director, Turzynski becomes Young's second in command with Greatrex's departure at the beginning of next month. The agency has promoted former managing partners Gerry Boyle, Mark Waugh and Tom George to become Turzynski's deputy managing directors.
The agency has divided its client planning teams into three divisions, which will be headed up by Turzynski, Boyle and Waugh.
George will oversee the agency's buying operations and reporting to him is head of television Chris Hayward, head of press and radio Jim Freeman and Anna Frith, managing director of the agency's outdoor division Meridian.
Turzynski, along with his deputies, and Jeff Hyams, managing director of direct and digital arm Zed, will all report to Young.
According to Young: "This management reorganisation will drive ZenithOptimedia to be more client-centric. These changes, in addition to the adoption of 'The ROI Agency' proposition, are part of our strategy to drive a more business approach for our clients, and increase our focus to improve marketing productivity for advertisers."
New business, marketing, brand development and the expansion of the agency's sponsorship consultancy Alliance, will be overseen by Greg Grimmer, who has been promoted to commercial director from executive director.
The agency was created by the merger of Zenith Media and Optimedia, resulting in a company with 220 staff and billings of £696m.
