Zenith won the business for the Walt Disney Company-owned film company without a review. The account had previously been handled by the Palisades Media Group in Santa Monica, California, which had held the account since 1996.
The win is the first major one for Zenith in the entertainment sector and is a high-profile one for the agency. Last year, Zenith pitched for the $600m (£383.5m) Walt Disney media account, which went to sister Publicis agency Starcom Media, having previously been handled by the Interpublic Group of Companies' Initiative Media.
Miramax is run by Bob and Harvey Weinstein and is behind such movies as 'Bridget Jones' Diary', 'Shakespeare in Love', 'Chicago' and the forthcoming new Quentin Tarantino movie 'Kill Bill', starring Uma Thurman.
Miramax is understood to have plumped for the Publicis Groupe-owned Zenith following some international project work around the run-up to the Oscars, where Miramax won for 'Chicago' and 'Gangs of New York'. The studio garnered 40 Oscar nominations and won best picture for 'Chicago'. Palisades also did Oscar media marketing work.
Despite the Miramax account being Palisades' flagship business, the agency has said it will not be cutting staff. The independent media shop also handles Artisan Entertainment, Fox Searchlight, Paramount Classics, Virgin Mobile and videogame maker Electronic Arts.
