
The Google-owned site is believed to be in talks with major broadcasters including ITV, Channel 4 and Five to host complete programmes on YouTube. It is not clear who will sell ads around the content.
A November launch could steal a march on rivals including US-based Hulu, which is to launch next year, and Arqiva's SeeSaw, formed from the remnants of Project Kangaroo.
YouTube carries videos of up to 10 minutes for UK user-generated content. It launched longer videos in the US last October, with content partners including CBS and Sony Pictures. A source close to Five confirmed the broadcaster was in talks with YouTube and other VoD platforms, including Arqiva, to syndicate its UK content.
