YouTube launches Shows site to generate ad revenue from VoD

The Shows section, at youtube.com/shows, pulls together 5000 videos in one place from 60 professional content partners.

YouTube expects the content to significantly increase in the coming months.

The full length programming includes the content made available under the recently announced partnership between Channel 4 and YouTube. The full range of Channel 4 content will be available in early 2010.

Some programmes will be supported by advertising. Channel 4's longform content will carry advertising from Virgin Media, Universal, Orange, Samsung and Pepsi.

Full-length programmes available through the Shows section include Peep Show, Derren Brown, Hollyoaks, The Inbetweeners, He-Man and World Rally Championship.

The  section also brings together clips of programmes including the Wallace and Gromit short films (Aardman), Top Gear, The Mighty Boosh, EastEnders, QI, Spooks (all BBC Worldwide) and Mr Bean (MyVideoRights/Tiger Aspect).
