The pub chains will be hosting ticketed whisky blending, tasting and food pairing events at their venues across the capital from January until March.

The sessions will focus on whisky appreciation, regional variances, flavour profiles and brand heritage, and they come as the pubs look to increase their whisky portfolios.

Events include 'Discover our Family' mini-master classes and blind tastings with Glenfiddich whisky, meanwhile The Regal Art of Blending series will see Chivas Regal’s brand ambassador talk guests through the ingredients used to produce the whisky, and they will be able to create their own concoction.

Cam Dawson, brand ambassador at Jack Daniel’s, will host whiskey cocktail master classes, where he will teach attendees how to create whiskey cocktails, as well as educate them about the differences between Tennessee whiskey, scotch and bourbon.

Dawson is also set to host meat and whiskey master classes on behalf of Jack Daniel’s, where guests will learn how to pair whiskey-based cocktails with carnivorous dishes such as steak and chicken wings.

The Balvenie’s brand ambassador, James Butin will deliver sessions where ticketholders learn how to match whisky with different cheese varieties, which have been selected from La Fromagerie in London.

Japanese whisky ice carving sessions will also form part of the event schedule. Brand ambassador Zoran Peric will create a range of ice sculptures, and participants will be able to create their own ice cubes and ice balls designed for serving with cocktails. Peric will also guide them through Japanese whisky brands such as Hibiki, Yamazaki and Hakushu.

Other participating brands include Monkey Shoulder, Hudson Whisky, Maker’s Mark, Macallan Highland Park and Laphroaig. The Young’s website lists the full schedule of events.
