Yahoo! appoints Rabe as managing director of UK sales

LONDON - Yahoo! has appointed Mark Rabe as vice-president and managing director of UK sales, replacing former UK commercial director Blake Chandlee, who left in October last year to join Facebook as UK sales director.

Rabe, who was previously vice-president of global sales, will be responsible for developing strategic digital marketing solutions for Yahoo!'s largest UK advertisers and agencies.

He has been with for five years. As vice-president of global sales, he built a multi-regional sales team catering to Yahoo!'s largest global advertisers.

Before leading the global sales team, Rabe worked as vice-president of sales operations and strategy for Yahoo! Search Marketing. In this role, Rabe managed operations and go-to-market strategy for many of YSM's advertiser-facing products.

Prior to joining Yahoo!, Rabe held several positions at , including senior vice-president of sales and business development and general manager of its Sprinks division.

Separately, Yahoo! and are set to face scrutiny by the US Justice Department over their deal to share advertising revenue. Google has over 60% of the internet search market, while Yahoo! has 16.6%.

The two internet firms announced a deal last week that will allow Yahoo! to place Google ads on its site and collect the revenue, which is estimated to increase Yahoo!'s cashflow by up to $450m in the first year.
