The Hit 40 UK chart will be broadcast on Sundays between 4pm and 7pm from February 2 and will be called 'Woolworths Hit 40 UK'.
It is hosted by long-time Capital Radio DJ and former 'Pop Idol' judge Neil Fox. It is broadcast on 96 national radio stations and targeted specifically at 15- to 24-year-olds.
Paul Davies, operations director at Capital Radio, said: "This offers our national network of 96 local radio stations unprecedented presence in every city centre, ensuring that the Hit 40 UK brand not only plays an active role in consumers' everyday lives, but has the capacity to build even stronger audiences in the future."
In-store marketing and promotion of the show will make up part of the deal's value and the radio group aims to increase audience interaction with the show with brand extensions including Hit 40 UK-branded CDs, text clubs and a website in the next six months.
Jim Freeman, head of radio at Zenith Optimedia, who brokered the deal on behalf of Woolworths, said: "This goes way beyond anything ever done before in any medium, and it is a partnership that totally makes sense to the listener and the consumer."
