Woman's Own promotes Turner's Desperate Housewives weekend

LONDON – Woman's Own and Turner Classic Movies are linking up around a special TCM weekend of classic films featuring feisty heroines, themed on 'Desperate Housewives', which finished its Channel 4 run this week.

The line-up of films, to be shown on June 11 and 12, includes 'The Postman Always Rings Twice', 'Gone with the Wind', 'Hannah and Her Sisters' and 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof'.

Woman's Own is sponsoring the weekend, getting branding in break bumpers for each film as well as in tune-in trailers and on the TCM website.

The IPC Connect magazine is to give the weekend coverage in its June 13 issue, on sale on June 7.

Woman's Own editor Elsa McAlonan said: "We're delighted to be working with Turner Classic Movies, especially on the Desperate Housewives weekend. It's a perfect fit for Women's Own and our readers will love this action, drama and comedy-packed weekend of girl power."

IPC has previously got together with its Time Warner stablemate TCM on a season of uncut films, sponsored by IPC's Uncut magazine, between May and December.

Alan Musa, vice-president and channel manager of TCM, said: "This season of movies has been a fantastic opportunity to work with Women's Own and connect with an audience that celebrate feisty, passionate women who have captured our imagination in film."
