The team building events organiser reported a 68% rise in winter events following the launch of its indoor and electronic tablet-based team event called ‘Around the World’.

The experience challenges teams to work their way virtually around the globe. Teams are given a Samsung Galaxy tablet as their passport and guide, then they must visit a number of countries to activate hot spots in order to complete a range of local, national and international challenges to earn points.

The company has already formed partnerships with ten international partners and licensees to bring this technology to locations such as Singapore and South Africa. Most recently, Wildgoose joined forces with US team building company TeamBonding in December 2013.

Peter Barker, operations director at Wildgoose, told Event the company will be targeting Australia, Dubai, Hong Kong, Germany and Malaysia in the next 12 months.

"There are lots of opportunities and interest and we are hungry for growth," he said. "We have no plans to open international offices but these partnerships will mean it is going to be an exciting year for us."

Barker added the company has seen exponential growth in the last 18 months in tech-based events as it prepares to launch a new app this spring.

"We are a seasonal business and around 95% of our events are outdoors," he said. "People don’t always like doing activities outdoors. With this new app it will take our events to a whole new level."

The app will incorporate elements of augmented reality and will allow companies to run managed events on it, which participants will be able to download onto a smart phone or tablet.

Last year the company hit £1m in turnover and Barker revealed the company has forecasted for this to double in the next 12 months. Wildgoose is also looking to double the size of its team, which currently stands at 15 team members.

The company has recently appointed four new members of staff including sales manager Freddie Macdonald, whose remit will include business growth in the company’s south-west region. He joins from Bristol-based GDS International.

Other hires include Gemma Smith, who has been appointed account manager responsible for developing relationships with the company’s existing clients, and Lilli Muehleisen, Wildgoose’s new project and event manager.

Mandy Chase has also joined the business as marketing executive. She previously worked with the sales and marketing team at The Grove hotel in Hertfordshire.
