Weekender: Country Life's foodie events, Singha and Volvo

This weekend (16-17 April) sees Country Life host its one-off dining events, Singha take over London venue Carousel for a second night, and Volvo close the doors to its retail pop-ups.

The Time Inc. owned publication is hosting two dining events with chef Tim Maddams at Pitfield London this weekend which will see ticketholders treated to a four-course meal and matching wines. There will be canapés to start, plus dishes featuring hero ingredients such as beef brisket and gnocchi, as well as rhubarb crumble.

Beer brand Singha is hosting two pop-up events with Shuttlecock Inc this week, both of which are designed to transport guests to Thailand – namely Chiang Mai – for the nation’s New Year celebrations, otherwise known as Songkran water festival.

Taking place at London’s Carousel, the events promise street food, live DJs and of course Singha in bountiful supply. Guests can also expect a range of water-based activities.

This weekend marks the final chance for consumers to visit Volvo’s retail pop-ups, which are currently available to experience in both Reading and Glasgow. The spaces showcase the brand’s new S90 and V90 automotive models, which are to be released later in the year, along with its existing XC90 make. The spaces also celebrate Swedish Fika, and are complete with cafes serving coffee and snacks.

Where: The Oracle Shopping Centre, Reading and the Silverburn centre, Glasgow 

Perfect for those seeking some literate inspiration this weekend, Foyles' Soho gallery is currently housing a pop-up by audiobook publisher, Audible. Coined Stories from the City, the installation offers visitors the chance to immerse themselves in the world of political thriller Ten Days.

Key features include a mocked-up police control centre, which is complete with evidence from different crime scenes that feature in the novel’s first 72 hours, and a community area where visitors can leave messages on wooden boards.
