Walker Media adds to its expanding digital division

Walker Media has made three new hires - two with responsibility for the Barclays online account - for its newly beefed up digital team.

The agency won the £70m Barclays media planning and buying account last year and made commitments to the client at the time that it would increase staff in its digital division, Walker-i.

Walker has hired Ricardo Collison as operations director, with responsibility for all reporting and analytic systems. Collison was previously operations manager at Argus Media, which offers information, analysis and news about energy, emissions and transport markets.

Richard Cordle has joined as an account manager with the primary responsibility for the digital activity of Barclays Insurance. Cordle previously worked for Aviva, where he was part of the online marketing team for insurance brands such as Norwich Union and RAC.

Mark Syal, digital director of Walker-i, has also appointed Adrian Tebbut, who previously worked at Zed Media, as a senior search executive to work on the Barclays group.

Walker has spent the past year boosting its digital capabilities, following Syal's appointment. He joined from Diffiniti as the company's first digital boss. It now has 24 staff in place.

Last July, Walker-i appointed Tharien Pieterse as its head of search. At the same time, James Cooper joined as head of affiliate. Cooper oversaw the launch of Walker's affiliate programme WASP, (Walker-i's Affiliate Software Platform). The software can run different campaign metrics including lead generation and cost-per-click.
