Wahaca is set to revive its multi-sensory Day of the Dead festival later this year (7 November).

The 12-hour celebration seeks to bring together all things Mexican and British through food, film, immersive theatre and dancing at London’s Tobacco Dock.

British brands The Horrors and Crystal Fighters share top billing with Mexican acts Mexrissey and Zoé. Numerous DJs will take the festival into its late hours.

Traditional Mexican food, such as tacos, tortas and churros, will be on offer at a variety of food stalls. Tequila and mezcal bars will offer refreshment alongside Mexican hot chocolate.

The festival will also feature an exclusive supper club, a collaboration between Wahaca’s Thomasina Miers and prominent Mexican chef Enrique Olvera.

Enhancing the cultural roots of the festival, an exhibition of Mexican and British art focusing on life and death will be presented in partnership with the Saatchi Gallery. English PEN, a global charity promoting freedom of expression in literature, will host daytime discussions on issues affecting Mexico today.

The event will support the charity Periodistas de a Pie, which defends journalists’ rights and freedom of expression in Mexico.
