VisitBritain moves to boost online traffic

Britain's official tourist board VisitBritain has appointed digital media firm AdLINK to improve its online marketing.

AdLINK has been handed a two-year contract as exclusive global sales partner to integrate online advertising and develop new prospects with firms that sell travel-related products.

The company will use its network of 12 offices in 11 countries to reach key online markets. The network gives clients access to more than 3,500 sites, which it claims comprise some 1,642 billion impressions a month.

Currently, VisitBritain receives just over five million page impressions a month, with the profile of visitors largely 35-49 year olds who are planning a trip to the UK.

"With the adoption of the right banners, skyscrapers and sponsorship opportunities, the VisitBritain proposition is very attractive to advertisers who are keen to associate themselves with the official tourist board," said Donald Hamilton, managing director of AdLINK.
