From today, owners of the consoles will be able to tune into Virgin Radio Xtreme, Virgin Radio Classic Rock and Virgin Radio Groove in a move that will help the station target younger audiences.

By visiting www.virginradio.co.uk/listen on the console's web browser, users will also be able to watch videos and live sessions on the Virgin Radio Player.

Concert tickets, CDs and music downloads will also be available via the games consoles, through the Virgin Radio Ticket Store.

"People are treating the consoles as part of their home entertainment media centre, and now Virgin Radio will be part of that experience," said James Cridland, digital media director at Virgin Radio. "This platform has great growth potential, particularly among early-adopters and 25-44 audience popular with advertisers."

The Virgin Radio Player, which runs on an MP3 streaming connection, is the only online player from a UK radio station currently compatible with both the Wii and PS3 consoles.
