Virgin Media TV promotes Clarke to channel controller

LONDON - Virgin Media Television has promoted David Clarke to the newly created post of channel controller for Bravo, Bravo2, Challenge and Trouble.

Clarke, currently managing editor of Bravo and Bravo2, takes on the new role immediately and will report directly to Celia Taylor, director of programmes for Virgin 1, Bravo, Bravo 2, Challenge and Trouble.

Clarke will also be in charge of developing the games entertainment channel Challenge and youth entertainment channel Trouble, looking after programme strategy, commissions and acquisitions. He will retain his responsibility for male-oriented channels Bravo and Bravo2.

Clarke joined Virgin Media Television in 1998 and was appointed channel editor for Bravo in June 2003. He was promoted to managing director of Bravo and Bravo2 in September last year.

Clarke's acquisitions include 'Blade: The Series' and David Mamet's drama 'The Unit'. He also brokered Virgin Media Television's largest sports acquisition to date, with the exclusive rights to Football Italia in 2005.

Virgin Media Television has also promoted Ronan Hand from acquisitions executive to acquisitions manager for Bravo and Bravo 2.
