VideoJug reaches traffic milestone

VideoJug, the online video service, has passed the two-million unique user mark, less than two years after it launched.

The "How to" video site had 2.3 million unique users in January, generating 11.5 million page impressions.

According to January ABCe figures, exclusively revealed to Media Week, VideoJug's UK unique user base stood at 737,000, while 928,955 unique users came from the US.

Unlike newspaper publishers, online and magazine groups are not obliged to supply ABCe data. As such, there are few similar websites to benchmark VideoJug's growth against.

Nancy Cruickshank, VideoJug global chief executive, said the ABCe data would boost its efforts to generate more advertising revenues. She said it is "imperative" that the site has a set of comparable and independently audited traffic figures for its commercial teams to use.

She added that its user base is expected to grow, as demand for high-quality video "explodes during 2008 and beyond". Growth is likely to come from its recent partnership with MySpace, under which VideoJug launched a branded channel on the social networking site.

VideoJug offers a mix of professionally produced and user-generated videos containing tips and expert advice on a host of subjects.
