Approximately 75,000 fans are expected to attend the festival between February and March 2015, which will take place every night for two weeks. Acts have yet to be announced, however organisers have promised the bill will consist of "the cream of the music industry", as well as up-and-coming artistes.

Guests will be able to watch performances within the 4,500-capacity main stage event space, the 1,450-capacity second room and in the more intimate third space that can host 350 people. A series of performances will be aired across Channel 4 and Box TV, which will also broadcast a weekly hour-long show and ten half-hour artist specials.

John Reid, president of European Concerts at Live Nation, said: "Live Nation's expertise from the world of live music and the incredible music broadcasting from Channel 4 and Box TV means this will be a fantastic opportunity for artists to engage with a huge audience. This coupled with the high calibre of both established and upcoming artists taking part in the event will make Platform Festival one of the best live music events anywhere in the world.

"Manchester has such a rich musical culture and has been responsible for genre and generation defining music for decades so it’s incredibly exciting to be part of this city’s next chapter in musical history."

Victoria Warehouse will also be hosting an event featuring Sam Smith, Gorgon City and Ella Eyre for music channel Vevo on 1 November, as well as experiential festival The Whisky Sessions from 21-22 November.
