Viacom's Curtis set for director of sales position at Sky

LONDON - BSkyB has poached Viacom Brand Solutions managing director Paul Curtis to take over as director of sales from the recently departed Mark Chippendale.

Chippendale resigned from Sky last month after 14 years with the satellite broadcaster and only one year as director of sales.

The appointment of Curtis follows the arrival of Nick Milligan, a colleague of Curtis' from stints at UK Gold and Five, who has only recently been appointed to managing director of the Sky sales operation Sky Media.

Viacom Brand Solutions sales house was set up with Curtis as managing director in 2001. It sells space on behalf of 14 cable and satellite channels including E! Entertainment, MTV, VH1, Nickelodeon and the Paramount Comedy Channel.

Sky Media sells airtime across 32 channels, including Discovery and Emap's channels, as well as its own.

A Sky spokesman declined to comment on the appointment.
