Anderson is taking time off for personal reasons. The changes will be effective from the start of next week.

News International said that Vanneck will maintain strategic oversight of The Times, Sunday Times and Times Online.

Susie Bourne, who has been working with Vanneck for the past year as head of marketing operations, will lead the Times’ marketing function on a day-to-day operations basis.

Earlier this month, it was confirmed that News International had merged its digital sales teams and News Group head of digital sales Martin Corke was promoted to the role of head of digital advertising strategy. The enlarged team sells across TheSun.co.uk, Newsoftheworld.co.uk and Timesonline.co.uk.
