Unilever appoints group leader of CRM activity

LONDON - Unilever has created a group role to improve its relationship marketing across its portfolio of brands, and promoted a Lever Faberge marketer to fill the post.

Jill Armitage has been appointed to the position of relationship marketing company leader. She will work across the Unilever group of companies and brands, spanning Lever Faberge, Unilever Bestfoods and Unilever Ice Cream and Frozen Food.

Reporting to Unilever business director Paul Nevett, Armitage will oversee all relationship marketing and direct communications.

Her remit is to increase customer loyalty and identify opportunities for cross-marketing Unilever products.

Armitage will examine all Unilever brands and establish where they can share relationship marketing expertise and information.

She has been at Unilever for eight years, and comes to the new role from Lever Faberge, where she was marketing strategy manager on the deodorants category.

Responsibility for group-wide direct communications has previously been subsumed into wider roles. This is the first time the company has assigned someone to handle relationship marketing as a full-time task, signalling its increased commitment to the discipline.
