UKTV appoints UKTV Gold and research heads

LONDON – UKTV has made two senior appointments, promoting James Newton to channel head of UK Gold and recruiting Jetix Europe's Caroline Dukes as head of research.

Newton joined UKTV in 2003 as head of scheduling for factual programmes and launched UKTV Documentary and UKTV People, before being promoted to channel editor for UKTV Documentary in 2004.

He reports to Charlotte Ashton, director of channels entertainment and factual, and has already taken up his new role.

Dukes has been put in charge of a 10-strong team responsible for delivering research to help shape business strategy for the UKTV network, and she will report to Julia Jordan, executive director of business strategy.

At Jetix, Duke was director of pan-European research, following earlier research roles at Carlton, Channel 4, Live TV and Classic FM.
