UEFA debuts Euro Championship website

LONDON - European football's governing body UEFA today launched the official website for the 2008 European Championships, which take place in Austria and Switzerland in June.

Euro2008.com will deliver coverage of the tournament in 10 languages, with 130 journalists working across four European offices.

The website will offer 30,000 pages of news, current information and tournament history, as well as the facility for users to upload photos to the portal's fan section. Audio and video content is also available, with UEFA offering highlights and live streaming of matches, on either subscription or pay-per-view packages via the site.

David Farrelly, head of web and content at UEFA, said the site would incorporate social networking, by giving users the chance to customise the site according to their team or location.

The website's official sponsors include Adidas, Canon, Coca-Cola and JVC.

Last month, UEFA announced that it would be seeking new sponsors for its annual Champions' League tournament.
