ITV and BBC take Euro 2008 rights in joint deal

LONDON - ITV and BBC have agreed a joint deal with UEFA for the rights to the Euro 2008 Championships.

The agreement was reached with Sport Five, the commercial agency marketing the TV rights for the Championships on behalf of UEFA.

It includes exclusive live UK television and new media rights to all 32 matches at the tournament, which is taking place in Austria and Switzerland in June next year.

ITV director of news and sport Mark Sharman, pictured, said the tournament would be "one of the highlights of a very busy year of live football on ITV".

Full details of match coverage will be released following the tournament draw in 2008.
