The microblog has developed a tool that will give users the ability to flag bad accounts on Twitter by calling to its attention to a profile they find questionable.
A clickable ' button under the 'Actions' section of a profile's sidebar will bring the account to the attention of Twitter's Trust and Safety team, who will check it out to and take action if appropriate.
No automated action will be taken as a result of reporting a user as spam and once a profile is reported by a user it will automatically become blocked from following or replying to that user.
Twitter said: "Our spam fighting tools will continue to evolve as new behaviors emerge, and as always, we'll keep trust and safety at the top of our list."
Prior to the move, Twitter used the @spam account to allow users to quickly report spam messages via direct message.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of plans to expand the number of languages Twitter is available in beyond just English and Japanese.
The company will soon roll out versions in French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
