Twentieth Century Fox backs Kingdom of Heaven with online push

LONDON – Twentieth Century Fox is launching an online campaign, created by Jam, to promote the cinema release of Ridley Scott's 'Kingdom of Heaven', offering users access to exclusive film material and prizes.

'Kingdom of Heaven' stars Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson and Michael Sheen. Bloom plays the lead role of Balian of Ibelin, a common man who rises to knighthood and finds himself in the middle of a war with the aim to find peace and a better world by protecting the people of Jerusalem.

It is being pushed with an online PR campaign, which will see trailers, interviews with stars, clips and features placed, as well as advertising on sites such as MSN and Yahoo!.

Merchandise will be given away in online competitions, and Jam has also set up an online promotion with the popular teen sites and .

Daniel Robey, managing director of Jam, said: "With the increasing intergration of promotional video material, for both online PR and advertising, much richer aspects of the actual film can be used within these campaigns."

According to the group, it is the first time that MSN and Yahoo have used full-page expandable video ads.

The campaign has been undertaken by three new-media companies: Jam, media buyer Starcom MediaVest and video technology group, Flashtalking. The film is released today May 6.
