Fox to promote Alien Vs Predator with mobile campaign

LONDON - The long-awaited film that pits cult movie monsters Alien and Predator against each other is to be promoted via a mobile marketing campaign that will let people vote on who they think will win the contest.

Twentieth Century Fox's 'Alien Vs Predator' movie is due to appear in cinemas on October 22. The new campaign, created by Mobile 365, will see fans of the film able to download wallpapers and "alien" ringtones for the phone.

There will also be the chance to vote for who will win the battle by texting either "ALIEN" or "PRED" to a short code number.

Twentieth Century Fox will help to maximise revenues 'Alien Vs Predator' content by distributing it through global mobile network operators and content providers. Texts to the competition will cost 25p and other content will be sold for 拢1.50.

'Alien Vs Predator' will see the monsters from the respective films battle each other on Earth in the Antarctic. The battle is discovered after the discovery of an ancient pyramid sends a team of scientists to Antarctica.

Fans have been calling for a movie to be made for years after a series of videogames starring the two hit the streets, with 'Aliens Versus Predator 2' seen as one of the best 3D shoot-em-ups yet released.

The first hint that there might be one was in the 1990 sequel to the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger-starring 'Predator', where there is a brief shot of an alien skull in the Predator's trophy room.
