Transport for London has recruited 12 performance poets to take part in an initiative designed to coincide with National Poetry Day on 3 October. Poets will perform poems around the network or write them on station whiteboards. In their poems, the poets will flag up antisocial things people do on public transport to remind travellers to think about others. The performances will be shared on a Tumblr blog and through TfL’s social media channels. Posters, illustrated by the French illustrator Mcbess and written by Mark Goodwin of M&C Saatchi, are supporting the activity. A short animated film will be displayed on digital screens at Tube stations and on TfL’s YouTube page. Commuters will be encouraged to write their own poems, with Mcbess illustrating some of the best for future posters.
