The Greater London Authority has teamed up with horticulturalist Sarah Eberle to create an English garden which will feature raised flower beds, exhibits and gardening activities.
A ‘Beat the Ban’ garden provided by the London Wildlife Trust will demonstrate how to cope with the current drought, and Flowers for All will put their English floral installations on show.
There will also be grow your own displays from the Mayor's Capital Growth programme, lessons in how to make English roses out of origami and a garden treasure trail for children. Workshops and talks from leading horticulturalists will also encourage Londoners to be more green-fingered.
Roaming entertainers will mingle with crowds and music acts will perform from an ornamental bandstand – from Battersea Beat Box Academy to Brick Lane Music Hall who will revive some music hall classics.
The event is free and will run from midday until 6pm.
