LONDON - From OMD and Channel 4 to IPC and the PPA, Brand Republic rounds up the major industry moves across the advertising, marketing and media markets.

, the former chief executive of McCann Erickson London, has become the new chief executive for Europe for the marketing communications specialist Acxiom. Ty Montague has appointed Michael Lebowitz as Andy's "co-chairman". Montague, JWT's co-chairman and chief creative officer, is to share chairmanship of the International Andy Awards with Michael Lebowitz, the founder and chief executive of the New York digital agency Big Spaceship. Andrew McGuinness, the Beattie McGuinness Bungay founding partner, has been named as the new chairman of the Advertising Association. He succeeds Mark Lund, the former Delaney Lund Knox Warren chief executive, who quit the role after his appointment to take charge of COI. (From ±±¾©Èü³µpk10)

Digital, daughter of Rupert and chief executive of Shine Group, is teaming up with the former chief executive of Bebo, Joanna Shields, to form a new company that will look at how television and social networking can benefit each other. The new company will operate as part of Shine Group and aims to find innovative formats and ways of monetizing content, as well as encouraging viewer engagement. ()

MySpace UK's head of sales is to leave the social networking site at the end of October. Reid has been at MySpace for three years and joined the News Corp-owned site from Emap, where he was head of online sales. He has another job to go to, although the identity of his new employer is not yet known. ()

The Rubicon Project, the ad optimisation outfit, has appointed AOL Advertising's director of publisher services, , to oversee relationships with online ad networks in Europe. Whitten will report to Jay Stevens, vice-president and general manager international, and will be responsible for managing an account team. ()

, head of agency sales at Microsoft, is leaving the business just one year after taking up the role. Carolan, who joined the then Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions in July last year, will leave on Friday to start up a furniture, art and design company with his brother. Microsoft is looking for a replacement. ()

Omnicom-owned media agency OMD UK has promoted to the role of head of digital, replacing Martin Shaw who left in March. Moving up from digital strategy director, Smyth will report to managing director Jonathan Allan and will work closely with Matt Simpson, head of digital for OMD Group. ()

TradeDoubler unveiled Unique Digital's managing partner, , as its new managing director. Burgess, who has already left Unique Digital after five years, is to replace Ben Wood, who left in June to become managing director of Aegis Media's digital agency Diffiniti. ()

The Association of Online Publishers (AOP) has appointed , group director of Trader Media Group, as its new co-chair, replacing Alison Reay. Collins, who is responsible for AutoTrader.co.uk at Trader Media Group, will take up the role from October for one year, working alongside current co-chair Tim Faircliff, general manager of consumer media at Thomson Reuters. ()

Marketing
Mars
has promoted UK marketing director to a new global marketing role. From November, she will be global petcare marketing director for cat consumer brands such as Sheba and Whiskas. The post is based in Brussels. (From Marketing)

MasterCard has promoted to the role of group head of European marketing. Broe succeeds Pedro Rangel, who has now left MasterCard. It is not known if he has another job to go to. She had previously operated as head of marketing for MasterCard UK and Ireland, where she oversaw the development of the brand's 'Priceless' campaign. ()

The NSPCC has appointed Paul Amadi as its director of fundraising. Amadi, who is group director of fundraising at the RNIB and chair of the Institute of Fundraising, will be responsible for the NSPCC's annual fundraising income of nearly £150m. ()

Media
Channel 4
is to start the process of recruiting a new chief executive immediately after it announced would remain in his role until some point before the end the year to guarantee a period of stable leadership. In an official confirmation of Duncan's resignation after weeks of speculation, Channel 4 chairman Luke Johnson, said: "When the time comes he will depart with our best wishes for his future success. ()

, the BBC 5Live and former Men's Health journalist, has been appointed editor of Bauer Media's celebrity weekly, Heat magazine. He replaces Julian Linley, who was appointed creative director, TV, at Bauer Media earlier this month. ()

, chief executive of the PPA has stepped down less than two years into the role at the trade body for British magazines. PPA chief operating officer Sarah Tunstall will oversee day-to-day management of the body until a replacement is appointed. ()

Independent News & Media has appointed , former commercial director at Hachette, as director of classified advertising at The Independent and The Inde­pendent on Sunday. O'Neill, a former employee at The Independent, takes up the role on 22 September and will report to Daryl Fielding, commercial director of The Independent. ()

, the former managing director of defunct outdoor media owner Streetbroadcast, is to head ad sales and marketing for start-up outdoor outfit Nettoyer Media. Nettoyer Media recently started installing its SaniPost hand sanitising units, which each carry four ad panels, across the country. ()

IPC has appointed , a former Mindshare business director, as key account director across its central sales unit. She replaces Melanie Scott, who departed earlier this year from the publisher of titles including Marie Claire, Loaded and Look. ()

Digicom, the digital out-of-home sales house, has appointed and as its first account directors. Brawn and Thornton will cover outdoor specialist agencies, key agency planners and some direct clients. They will report to Chris Forrester, managing director, sales and marketing, Digicom. ()

Discovery Networks UK has named Turner Broadcasting Europe's UK chief, , as its new managing director and executive vice-president. She replaces Dan Brooke, who left the company in January. ()
