An app which uses device-to-device technology to enable connectivity, without having to rely on mobile phone signals or dodgy wi-fi.

Fezzmesh: for use at festivals
Fezzmesh: for use at festivals

Founded: The app is developed by Fezzee, which was founded in 2013. The app was unveiled at this year's SXSW Festival (13-22 March) in Austin, Texas.

What is it? Mobile device-to-device technology that creates an ad hoc mesh network for use at festivals and events - essentially an intranet that could support all sorts of important information.

Tell me more... Using the Feezze app with FezzMesh technology enables users to communicate without having to rely on patchy wi-fi access or cellular signals. It means festival and events can provide up-to-the minute line-up changes and time-sensitive festival promotions.

Festival goers can use the app to locate each other in a busy crowd and find groups that are nearby via an interactive map. What's more, you can use a Fezzee app function called 'Last Seen' so you can track where your friends were last 'on the grid', so if their phones run out of battery you can head to where they were last.

A 'hide me' option is also available for those who want to keep their movements to themselves. Another feature is the music discovery and recommendation engine, which gives users crowd data-driven music line-up recommendations. The app is available from May.
