Tiscali adds video news bulletins in Press Association deal

LONDON - The Press Association has signed a deal with Tiscali to provide digital video bulletins to the company's UK users.

Users of will now have access to news, sport and entertainment bulletins updated throughout the day, seven days a week. All bulletins contain bespoke content and are Tiscali branded. The bulletins will be archived for 30 days, and will become part of Tiscali's site search.

Each bulletin will be around a minute-and-a-half long and will cover the top stories of the day with a combination of video footage, voiceover and stills content. In addition to the scheduled updates, the Press Association will provide additional updates when there are breaking news stories. The content on the site will always reflect the current UK news agenda.

Asha Oberoi, head of multimedia at the PA said: "We believe that the internet is a rich-media platform and have created a range of multimedia products tailored specifically to the medium."

Tiscali already signed a deal with PA in 2003, which sees it provide news and images.

Richard Ayers, portal director of Tiscali.co.uk, says: "Tiscali has for some time created and sought out content created specifically to exploit the capabilities of broadband and therefore provide a richer experience for these users. So it is natural that we are the first ISP to launch this service to our broadband audience in the UK to complement the wider PA services we integrate into our news and gallery pages."
