Vanneck has been appointed to the role as Mike Anderson is taking an immediate leave of absence over the coming months for personal reasons. Anderson's direct reports during this period will report to Vanneck who will sit on NI's executive team and report to James Murdoch.

Vanneck will maintain strategic oversight of the Times Media marketing function during this interim period but Susie Bourne, the current head of marketing operations, will carry out her former duties on a day to day operational basis.

Anderson was appointed managing director, digital and development across News International earlier in July in a restructure announced by Murdoch. At the time we was managing director of News Group Newspapers, which publishes the Sun and News of the World.
