The UK’s national timber event is usually held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. It is moving to Brimingham's NEC later this year, where it will remain for the 2014 event.
Event organisers TRADA Technology announced the news today (April 17) and said that the initiative will include a joint marketing campaign with W14, the joinery and furniture industries exhibition.
Loretta Sales, Timber Expo event director, said this year's move to the NEC is a major stepping stone but that collaboration with W14 next year will add "a further dynamic".
"Collaboration has always been at the core of Timber Expo," she said. "We listen to our exhibitors and visitors and try to respond to what they want from our event."
She added: "We are focusing heavily on overseas exhibitors and are attracting a lot of interest from structural timber companies looking to access the UK market."
With W14’s focus on the joinery and furniture industries, and Timber Expo’s focus on timber technology for engineers and architects, both organisers believe visitors will benefit from the join venture.
Angela McGowan, exhibition director of W14, said: "Both shows obviously have their unique focus in the industry. This move is great news for the many visitors who would like to see both shows in a single visit."
Timber Expo takes place on September 24 and 25 2013 at the NEC in Birmingham.
