The CGI ad, created by Creature, is part of Tetley's £13 million campaign and features Gaffer, Tina and Sydney, go back in time to a battle in a medieval castle.
As the combat erupts around them they focus on serving tea, singing about its history and showing the different types of tea Tetley offers. There will also be an interactive sing-along available on Facebook and video on-demand.
The ad was created by Joe Stone and Dan Ball, with creative direction from Ed Warren, Ben Middleton and Stu Outhwaite. Tomas Skoging directed the spot through Glassworks. Media planning and buying was done through Starcom MediaVest Group.
Amy Holdsworth, the marketing director at Tetley, said: "Gaffer, Tina and Sydney fixed an alien invasion in the first instalment of our new CGI ad campaign.
"Now we’ve sent them back in time to a castle under siege and rekindled Gaffer’s talent for a tune. It’s all part of a £13 million campaign designed to showcase the range of quality teas Tetley has to offer."
The campaign’s first spot "aliens" was released in January. It shows the trio interrupting aliens terrorising the UK prime minister. The aliens drink the tea and forget about taking over the country.
Creature won the £8 million Tetley account in July 2013 after fighting off competition from The Brooklyn Brothers, BETC London and M&C Saatchi. The incumbent was Dare.
