Ten Alps set to launch global peace channel on broadband

LONDON - Live Aid founder Bob Geldof's production company Ten Alps Digital is set to launch a global broadband Peace Channel, which could be up and running as early as 2008 and will include video, user-generated content and social networking features.

The project is being funded by Point of Peace, a human rights organisation based in Stavanger, Norway, which supports the Nobel Peace Laureates follow-on programme.

Ten Alps Digital has been commissioned to draw up plans for the service, taking into account programme production, design, technical systems, marketing and a business plan.

A decision of whether to launch a full service will be taken in the autumn.

The project team will include Geldof, Ten Alps non-executive director, along with Nigel Dacre, the managing director of Ten Alps Digital, and also Brian Lapping, of Brook Lapping Productions.
