TCM and TV Times link up for season of Oscar winners

LONDON - IPC Media's TV Times is joining up with Turner Classic Movies to support '29 Days of Oscar', the cable and satellite movie channel's latest season of films.

Throughout February, actor, director and regular Bafta host Stephen Fry will present a season of Oscar-winning and nominated films on TCM, which will be sponsored by TV Times. Films being screened in the series include 'Casablanca', 'Goodfellas', 'Bonnie and Clyde' and 'Gone with the Wind'.

The season will run with the strapline: "Roll out the red carpet to TCM's '20 Days of Oscar' in association with TV Times, your golden guide."

TV Times will publish a range of Oscar features with a retrospective look at the last 75 years of the Oscars in the run-up to the 76th Academy Awards awards this year.

TCM is allowing NTL digital subscribers who do not have TCM as part of their package to enjoy the channel for free during the season's run.

Alan Musa, vice-president and channel manager of TCM, said: "'29 Days of Oscar' is TCM's biggest stunt of the year and provides an ideal backdrop for a cross-media deal between IPC tx and TCM. There is great synergy between these brands and both will enjoy increased awareness through this initiative."

TCM reaches more than 9.3m households in the UK while TV Times' circulation in the last round of ABCs was 529,632. The joint promotion is a first for the companies, both owned by Time Warner.
