The move is part of an 'Emergency Plan' developed by the telecoms brand and allows people to keep benefiting from domestic calls and free broadband (512kps and 1GB downloads).
The package is available to all Talk Talk customers who have been using the company's services for more than six months.
Talk Talk will judge individually who is eligible to benefit from the scheme. Anyone who joins the scheme will have their £6.49 monthly fee deferred for six months. After this period they will be returned to the standard plan.
Charles Dunstone, chief executive of Talk Talk and The Carphone Warehouse, said: "We want to help our customers as much as we can as we know many face financial difficulties this year. If they are worried about their household finances or their ability to pay for whatever reason, we encourage them to call us."
Other companies have responded to consumers' recession worries, including the airline Flybe, which has allowed customers with bookings through to October to cancel with no charge if anyone in their party is made redundant.
