Supermodel Naomi Campbell gets price-tag rage in Tesco clothing ad

LONDON – Naomi Campbell sends up her reputation for tantrums in Tesco's latest Cherokee clothing campaign, which sees Lowe bring back the pesky price tags that embarrass the clothes' wearers.

The 30-second spot shows Campbell swanning around in her customary luxury settings -- cool hotel, amazing swimming pool, great-looking guys -- wearing Cherokee's summer range.

However, the starburst-shaped price tags continually interrupt her, flagging up the bargain prices she has paid for the clothes and eventually provoking the supermodel into a fit of rage. The ad ends with her being led away by the local police and the strapline "Design by Cherokee. Price by Tesco".

Campbell has earned a reputation for bullying and attacking her personal assistants. One, Amie Castaldo, alleged that the star had hit her and screamed "You fucking worthless bitch!" after she booked the wrong hairdresser. Another, Simone Craig, has claimed she was held hostage by Campbell in an LA hotel.

The spot is tailed in each ad break by a 10-second additional scenario showing Naomi attending an anger management workshop. As she stands up to talk to the group, she sees a starburst and throws it to the ground to give it a good kicking.

The ad is the fourth in the "Starburst" campaign created by Lowe.

Paul Weinberger, chairman of Lowe, said: "This latest execution personifies the combination of style and value at the heart of the Cherokee brand."

The ad was copywritten by Tom Hudson and art directed by Lee Goulding. It was directed by Bryan Buckly, co-founder of Hungryman, who was voted best US director by ±±¾©Èü³µpk10.

The ad first aired on Monday and media planning and buying was by Initiative.
