Sunday Times claims success for The Month CD-rom

LONDON - The Sunday Times claims that 700,000 readers used the first issue of its CD-rom product The Month.

Distribution of The Month on August 31 helped achieve an increase in sales of 160,000 to 1.46m.

The Month, which combines entertainment content and reviews with music and ticket sales facilities, is published once a month in the newspaper.

Research from The Sunday Times showed that 53% of users would keep The Month for four weeks or longer. One in five readers bought the newspaper specifically to get The Month and 33% said that they were more likely to buy The Sunday Times more often during the rest of the month.

However, there were reports that some readers experienced technical problems with the product and were unable to use it on certain PCs.

Paul Hayes, general manager of Times Newspapers, said: "We spent a lot of time researching the needs of the modern newspaper reader, and these fantastic figures justify our innovation."
