Stoodley replaces Clare Dove as Future's London sales director, following her move to the publisher's Bath offices in the role of ad director for craft, games and technology.
The pair previously worked together at Trinity Mirror, where Dove, then MGN's director of advertising, hired Stoodley from IPC, where he was ad director of TV listings division IPC tx.
Stoodley will head a team of around 65 people working on the London-based portfolio, which includes Classic Rock, gadget magazine T3 and Xbox 360: the Official Xbox Magazine.
He will report to Future's ad director Jayne Caple and work with recently appointed digital commercial director Daniel Ward-Lee on cross-platform ad deals.
The appointment comes as the publisher prepares to hire an editorial team for the launch later this year of an as-yet-unnamed photo- graphy magazine, which it will produce under licence.
The title will promote single-lens reflex cameras and will join Digital Camera and Digital Video in Future's photography portfolio.
It aims to take market share from start-up company Halo Publishing, which launched Digital SLR Photography in November last year, the first mainstream title dedicated to the format.
Halo has yet to publish an ABC for the title, which has a target circulation of 30,000 copies per issue.
