His primary task as senior marketing manager, digital marketing strategy, at RedDot will be to assist with the build of its own site, incorporating applications such as blogs, wikis and other web 2.0 enterprise features, to help the supplier communicate how it can help brands.
"My function will be similar to my role at STA Travel, applying the same principles to develop and drive a product, but to a different market," said Hepburn.
RedDot aims to help digital marketers to strategically update and manage their sites by shifting the technical onus away from IT functions. This should in turn free up IT resources to develop marketing applications for brands. "STA Travel, for example, recently used RedDot to import a feature from its Australian site across to the UK site," Hepburn explained.
While at STA, Hepburn brought in a raft of social media features, including widgets and blogs, to the company's global sites. He will remain in a strategic role with the student travel company, and will also embark on a series of web evangelism talks.
