The sold-out event, which takes place on Sunday 14 September at the south lawn of the park – a 26,000-capacity space – will round off the Invictus Games, an international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, which is expected to see more than 400 competitors from 14 nations take part. The event is being organised by AEG Live.
Star Events and Beaver 84 will provide all the staging, seating, production and broadcast structures for the concert, as well as most of the fencing, barriers and ground protection. The structures will also be used for the opening ceremony.
Jim King, project director for AEG Live, said: "It made a lot of sense to work with Star Events on these prestigious events, due to the close working relationship between our team and theirs, and also because of Star’s extensive experience of working in the Olympic Park both during and after the London 2012 Games."
The five-hour Invictus Games closing concert will consist of music performances from Foo Fighters, Kaiser Chiefs, Ellie Goulding, Ryan Adams, The Vamps, Rizzle Kicks, James Blunt, Diversity and the Military Wives Choirs. It will also include the medal presentations for the winning competitors
The Jaguar Land Rover Invictus Games closing concert is being broadcast by the BBC.
